Former Watertown High School standout Malcolm Lynch received Liberty League Rookie of the Week honors on Monday for his performance for the St. Lawrence University mens lacrosse team last week.
Lynch, a long-stick midfielder, scored twice, including the game-winning shot in the Saints victory against Rensselaer. He added three caused turnovers and four ground balls.
SLU teammate Jack Nuland won the leagues defensive performer of the week with a .708 save percentage and 3.62 goals-against average as the Saints goalie.
In womens track and field, the Saints Elizabeth Edwards was named the top track performer and SLUs Divya Biswal the top field performer. Both won two individual events as the Saints captured the Liberty League championship. Also, the Saints Jack Whelan was performer of the week in mens golf after winning medalist honors at the Fred Kravitz Invitational in Rochester.
Area athletes named to the honor roll were Caroline Kieltyka (St. Lawrence) in softball; Paul Barrett (St. Lawrence) in mens tennis; and Katie VanDeValk (Clarkson) in womens lacrosse.
