Heuvelton man accused of bruising toddler

GOUVERNEUR — A Heuvelton man faces charges after he allegedly injured his 2-year-old son.

Shawn M. Cullen, 24, was arrested by state police Tuesday afternoon and charged with assault causing injury to a person under 7 years of age, a class D felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Troopers said he left bruises on the child’s buttocks following an incident Saturday.

He was committed to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.

Troopers said Mr. Cullen was on parole at the time of his arrest.

In March 2007, St. Lawrence County Judge Jerome J. Richards sentenced him to 3 years in prison and 5 years’ parole after he pleaded guilty to bringing a sawed-off shotgun and 100 rounds of ammunition to a Canton fraternity house in September 2006.
