GOUVERNEUR – Lucretia A. Peabody, 74, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at her home.

Calling hours are Sunday, April 28th from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with a funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. Beth Benham, pastor of the Gouverneur United Methodist Church officiating and burial in Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.

Lucretia was born December 7, 1938 in Gouverneur, the daughter of Doris A. Peabody.

She graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1958.

Lucretia was employed at General Motors in Massena for 30 years and operated Clay Players Ceramics for 40 years. She enjoyed knitting, ceramics, and bowling in the Monday Morning Coffee Cup league where she served as its treasurer. She was very active in the Earnest Rebekah Lodge #16 of Antwerp in which she was a member for over twenty years and had held several offices such as Treasurer and Assembly of Outside Guardian. Lucretia also served as District Deputy President and on the Rebekah Assembly of the State of New York.

Lucretia is survived by several cousins Dixie Shute-Maciulewicz of Camillus, Donna Belanger of North Syracuse, Darliene Tanner of Liverpool, Desiree Hill of Cicero, and Ronald Peabody.

Memorial donations may be made to Earnest Rebekah Lodge #16, c/o Joyce Bancroft, 37649 County Route 25, Antwerp, NY 13608.
