Edith A. Lucia


Massena: Edith A. Lucia, 91 of Ober St. Massena passed away on April 18,2013 at Massena Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 19, 1921 in Massena the daughter of Henry and Emma(Lareesh) Perry. Edith attended Massena High School in 1939 and Albany Business College in 1940. She worked in Albany, NY and then returned to Massena to work as a secretary at Alcoa. In 1944 she proudly joined the U.S.

Marine Corps, serving in Camp LeJeune, NC; Lakehurst, NJ; and Washington DC, she was honorably discharged as a Corporal. On September 18, 1946 she married Robert Lucia at St. Mary’s Church in Massena. Mr. Lucia predeceased her on December 7, 1999. She was a life member of the Marine Corps League #685. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and cooking and loved to share her skills with her children and grandchildren. Edith is survived by her children, Catherine Cooper of Liverpool, NY; Stephen and Bonnie Lucia of Helena, NY; Alan Lucia of Massena; Marianna Lucia (Steve) of Camillus, NY; Tess (LeRoy) Kyser of Syracuse, NY; seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Harley, Clyde, Oresen Perry, Mildred Yedlicka and Marion Premo. A Mass of Resurrection will take place on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church with Rev.Scott D. Fobare presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends and family may be received on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 7-9 pm at Phillips Memorial Home in Massena. Online condolences may be made to
