CANTON — Austin LaMay struck out 10 and scattered five hits to lead the Malone baseball team to a 14-3 victory over Canton in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game Wednesday.

Brandon Welch slugged two home runs for the Huskies (2-1 overall, 2-0 division). Francesco Palumbo singled twice for Canton (0-4).

OFA 3, POTSDAM 1

Seth Pinkerton threw a two-hitter to lead the Blue Devils past the Sandstoners (5-2, 4-1) in a Central Division game in Ogdensburg.

Pat Cosmo led OFA (2-1) on offense with a 2-for-2 effort.

NORWOOD-NORFOLK 4, MADRID-WADDINGTON 2

Troy Kovach held Madrid-Waddington (2-1) hitless until the fourth inning and finished with eight strikeouts to lead the Flyers to an East Division win in Norwood. Kovach also doubled for the Flyers (4-0, 2-0).

WATERTOWN 11, GENERAL BROWN 1

Sophomore Kenny Schimpf hurled a three-hitter as the Cyclones earned a crossover home win over the Lions.

Nick Lavin finished 2-for-5 and drove in a run for Watertown (6-2, 4-0). Ryan Bajjaly and Jared Bellinger each doubled and drove in two runs for WHS, and Josh Belch also contributed a double.

General Brown is 2-6, 1-5.

CARTHAGE 6, IHC 2

Cody Spencer drove in two runs on three hits to lead the Comets past the Cavaliers in an “A” Division game at Carthage.

Tyler Clemons singled twice and knocked in a run for Carthage (5-1, 5-0). Dan Granger pitched a complete game, scattering five hits to go with five strikeouts.

Robin Massey threw a complete game for Immaculate Heart Central (3-1).

SANDY CREEK 8, ALEXANDRIA 0

Freshman Zac Akey pitched four innings of no-hit ball and went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the host Comets to the crossover win at Sandy Creek.

Akey recorded a home run, a double and single for Sandy Creek (3-2). Steven Smith pitched the final two scoreless innings.

Alexandria fell to 1-5.

SOFTBALL

OFA 25, POTSDAM 0

Brittany Barr homered twice and her sister, Felicia, threw a three-hitter to lead the Blue Devils past the Sandstoners (1-3) in a Central Division game in Ogdensburg.

Madie Bresett produced three hits for the Blue Devils (3-1), and Stacy Barr lined two hits, including a triple.

MALONE 5, CANTON 1

Annie Sharlow and Alyssa McCauley combined to hold Canton (1-4, 1-2) to just two hits as the Huskies won a Central Division game in Malone.

Sharlow pitched the first five innings and struck out seven for Malone (3-0).

NORWOOD-NORFOLK 10, MADRID-WADDINGTON 2

Katie Ames struck out nine to send Norwood-Norfolk past Madrid-Waddington (1-2) in a North Division game in Norwood.

Josie Labarge, Carly Weaver, Alia Palmer and Courtney Wagstaff each produced two hits for the Flyers (2-1).

Emily Upstrom paced Madrid-Waddington with two hits.

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 18, TUPPER LAKE 2

A 12-strikeout effort by Emily O’Connor led the Panthers past the Lumberjacks (0-4) in a North Division game in Brushton. O’Connor also hit a three-run homer for the Panthers (3-2).

Lizzy Zurek homered for Tupper Lake.

APW 3, SOUTH JEFFERSON 1 (8)

Becky Trexler doubled and scored the eventual go-ahead run on a throwing error in the eighth inning as the Rebels beat the Spartans in a matchup of undefeated “B” Division teams in Adams Center.

Tori Stanton struck out nine and gave up just four hits in a complete game, while Erin Stever and Amber Rice each finished with two hits, including a double, for Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (4-0).

Jackie Decker provided two hits and Brooke LaLone went the distance, recording eight strikeouts, for South Jefferson (6-1).

Sandy Creek 13, Alexandria 0

Chelsea Claflin and Michaela Martin combined on a two-hitter as the Comets blanked the Purple Ghosts in a crossover game at Sandy Creek.

Claflin struck out 12 in her five innings of work. Jordan Miller went 3-for-5 with two triples and four RBIs for Sandy Creek (4-1). Victoria White was 2-for-3 with a RBI and Maggie King doubled.

BOYS LACROSSE

CANTON 12, OFA 5

Peyton VanBibber scored six goals to help the Golden Bears past the Blue Devils (1-5) in a Northern Athletic Conference game in Canton.

Brandon Rodee and Ryan Caldwell each scored twice for Canton (5-1). Garrett Glasglow, Jack Elberty and Gage Emerson also scored for Canton.

Nick Perrigo scored all five goals for the Blue Devils.

GENERAL BROWN 11, SOUTH JEFFERSON 7

Cole Johnson totaled seven points, including four goals, to propel the Lions past the Spartans in a “B” Division game in Adams.

Jake Purvis scored three goals and assisted on another for division-leading General Brown (5-4, 5-2). Goalie Parker Smith made 15 saves.

Taylor Lucas scored three goals to pace South Jefferson (1-7, 1-3). Brett Maguire and Derik Hall each chipped in with a goal and an assist.

WATERTOWN 15, LOWVILLE 3

Andrew Keenan scored four goals to lead the Cyclones over the Red Raiders in a crossover game in Lowville.

Eric Soderquist and Kendall Vecchio each recorded two goals and two assists for Watertown (4-5, 3-3). Noah Taylor contributed a goal and three assists for the Cyclones and Brad McKinney scored twice.

Matthew Bush scored two goals for Lowville (0-8, 0-7).

IHC 11, INDIAN RIVER 1

Matt Guyette recorded a goal and four assists, and Mike Morgia scored four goals to spark the Cavaliers to a crossover win in Philadelphia.

Matt Moran and J. P. McCluskey each contributed two goals for IHC (6-2, 5-2), which built a 7-0 halftime lead. Goalie Dan Grant made six saves for the Cavaliers.

Kaleb Loar finished with 18 saves for the Warriors (1-5).
