The Norwood-Norfolk Modified Softball team stung the Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets 15-3 on Wednesday.

Pitcher Cassidy Weaver looked very sharp while earning the win with six strikeouts in four innings of work. Bryanna Powell pitched three strong innings in relief, ringing up seven strikeouts.

At the plate, the Lady Flyers again showed great power as Breanna DeShanestroked two triples in three at-bats and Bethany Belmore had a double and a triple in three trips to the plate. Katrina Durant went 3-for-3 at the plate and added four stolen bases. Catcher Sidney Molnar had an outstanding defensive game, throwing out a runner attempting to steal second base and picking off a runner at third.

S. Newcomb had a terrific all-around game for the Yellowjackets, pitching four strong innings and going 3-for-3 at the plate, to include a double in the gap. K. Travis had a stellar defensive performance at third base for the Jackets with five put-outs and a great running catch behind the bag. Madrid-Waddington catcher A. Ramsey was superb behind the plate, making several acrobatic blocks behind the dish.

Next up for the Lady Flyers is a “Gold Squad” game at St. Lawrence Central at 4:30 pm on this Friday April 26.
