Bulls, Heat move to 2-0 in OBGC hoops

The Bulls and Heat moved to 2-0 and the Lakers recorded their first Senior League win in Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Spring Basketball action.

Bulls (61) - Mavs (51): Breton LaRose led the Bulls to the win scoring 30 points with Tristen Moore and Reilly Pierce adding 10. The Mavs were led by Dedrick Johnson with 27 points including five three-pointers and eight from Konnor Murdock.

Heat (69) - Thunder (67): The Heat used a balanced scoring attack and an 18-13 fourth quarter advantage for the win.

Matt Piercey led the way with 19 points including 13 in the fourth quarter. Alex Farrell scored 17 with David Tomford and Conor Hannan adding 13 each. Kinnon LaRose led the Thunder with 38 points including six three-pointers with Peyton Lalone dropping in 16.

Lakers (68) - Knicks (39): The Lakers used a 25 point second quarter to pull away from the Knicks as Colin Ross dropped in 25 points. Jack Manke used a nice shooting touch to score 16 with Spencer Mayette contributing a hustling two-way effort on his way to 12 points. Josh Liebstein led the Knicks with 16 points and Jimmy Robinson added 12.

GIRLS LEAGUE

The Dream and the Storm both recorded win number two and set up a fist place showdown next Tuesday in OBGC Girls Basketball League. The Dream will meet the Storm in the 7 p.m. game while the Liberty will take on the Mercury at 8 p.m.

Storm (46) - Liberty (42) OT: The Storm recorded the win with a 4-0 extra stanza. Riley Luckie led the way with 24 points including a late three-pointer in regulation to send the game to overtime. Maddie and Olivia St. Pierre each added nine.

The Liberty were led by Beth Crowley and Emma Rexford with 14 points each.

Dream (47) Mercury (30)- The Dream broke away from a 17-17 tie at half with a decisive 18-7 third quarter burst. Courtney Sherwin led a balanced scoring attack with 10 points with Courtney Harrington adding nine and Bridget Rust and Shelby Ross eight each.

The Mercury received eight points each from Jackie and Katie Sovie.

Duke of the ACC Division and Syracuse of the Big East Division are off to 2-0 starts in the Elementary League of the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Spring Basketball action.

Big East

Georgetown 32 Pittsburgh 16: Georgetown was led by Bobby Wells, Chris Downs and Braeden Free who all played very well on both ends of the Floor. Pittsburgh’s attact was anchored by strong play from Ryan and Owen Warchol.

Syracuse 40 - Louisville 24: The Cuse’s Trent Sargent and Brogan LaRose led the way on offense and Isiah Smith was tough on defense. Louisville kept it close with great play from Tristen Lovely and Joey Rogers.

Players of the Week: Offensive: Trent Sargent and Bobby Wells, Defensive: Josh Hunter and Isaiah Smith,Sportsmanship: Aiden Laflair and Ryan Warchol

ACC

Duke 26 - Maryland 19: Karson LaRose and Celia Henry played extremely well for the Dukies as they moved to 2-0 on the year..

Maryland was led by Jed Crayford on defense and Connor Griffith on offense as they both played very well in the second half to keep the game close.

Miami 24 - North Carolina 19: Nolan Rapin led the way for Miami win its first win of the season. Also contributing were Amanda Self and Braeden Free. Garrett Zulaufturned in excellent defense to help keep it close for the Tar Heels.

Players of the Week: Offensive: Karson LaRose and Nolan Rapin. Defensive: Jed Crayford and Garrett Zulauf. Sportsmanship: Celia Henry and Amanda Self.

JUNIOR LEAGUE

Indiana and Ohio State stayed undefeated while Wisconsin posted an overtime win in last week’s Junior League action of the Junior League.

Wisconsin 42 Penn State 40: Hayden Ives’ jumper with six seconds left in OT gave the Badgers the win.Also contributing were Austin Paterson and Preston Santinaw both with six points. Nate McCarney led the way for Penn State with a game high 20 points...

Ohio State 38 Iowa 36: Connor Badlam and Kevin Joanette had 12 points apiece to lead the way. Iowa was paced by Jadan Sullivan’s 6 points and Caleb Legault’s tough defense.

Indiana 59 Michigan 42: Cale Sargent and Nate Dufore kept Indiana undefeated with strong play on both ends of the floor. Michigan was led by Tucker Jordan’s 14 points and Joey Dalton’s 10 rebounds.

Players of the Week:Offensive: Cale Sargent and Nate McCarney, Defensive: Travis Hitsman and Nathaniel Dufore, Sportsmanship:Caleb Legault and Cooper Hunter
