Woodruff Street section reduced to single lane for SMC project

A portion of Woodruff Street will be reduced to a single lane of traffic early this week to allow for installation of a fire hydrant.

Starting Monday, the section between Washington and Sherman streets will be down to one lane from about 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. while a contractor for Samaritan Medical Center performs the work, according to a release from the city of Watertown engineering department.

“The crews will install temporary barricades, signage and have flagmen on-site as needed,” the release states. “Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes during construction. If in this area, motorists should exercise extreme caution when encountering work crews and work zones.”

Work on the project is expected to last one or two days.

Anyone seeking more information or with questions on the project is asked to call the engineering department at 785-7740.
