Positive Change

To The Editor:

To the taxpayers of Massena:

Hi my name is April Locy, and I go to Delta School of Choice (Alternative Education) and I’m in eighth grade. Alternative education has made a big change to everyone in the program including me.

Closing this school is just going to make things worse; people are going to drop out and get nowhere in life. Everyone here is like family and getting rid of this school and the teachers is like torture. We consider this school like a home. This program is the reason people look forward to school and how they got where they are.

Why can’t they cut back on sports traveling? Like duhh they don’t need to go 100 different places to play a sport when you have a field, gym, coach and team right here.

Van Alexander, the counselor, and Darcy LaBarge, the teacher’s assistant, don’t act like the usual teachers; they like to mess around and do everything in their power to make you happy. It’s not like the usual school. We get to listen to music, and they are very laid back.

It’s the best school I’ve been to and it was also the best two years I’ve had. I’d hate to see the school close after everything it’s done for everyone. It’s heart breaking to see all the teachers and students walking around here crying and upset, knowing there’s nothing left for us.

It feels like the end now; we have nothing .Obviously the Massena School Board of Education isn’t thinking about the students and what this program has done for us because if they were they wouldn’t think for one second to close it. Alt-Ed is wayyyyyyy better than the jr. high with all the problems and bullying that happens there. Please help us save the Alternative Education program and tell the school board members to fix the budget before letting people vote on it.
