On April 13, the Barnes Corners Sno-Pals Inc. hosted their 10th annual Snirt Run. One of the stops this year was the Boondocks Restaurant. The increased traffic this year has destroyed the roadside along Route 12 for approximately 1,000 feet or more making it truly an eyesore. For that I do apologize to the community and to those who must pass by that area on their commute to work.

As president of the BCSP and one of many who have worked so hard at bringing this event into the area, I must say I’m as much upset by those photos and the condition of that piece of state right-of-way as you are. Pictures have been taken and published both in the papers and on the Internet, and I’m sorry for that also.

I have been in touch with the state Department of Transportation and can tell you that Sno-Pals is working diligently to correct the situation. We have applied for and will soon have a permit which will allow us to work roadside in correcting the problem. We expect to be on site on the 25th of this month to level, reseed and put a cover of straw over the whole section. Hopefully a complete recovery will be seen by mid-June. Once restored I do hope that pictures are taken and published so people can see the restoration which has been accomplished.

Thank you.
