Karen M. Wicks Coleman, 59, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on April 26, 2013 after battling lung cancer.

A memorial service will be held at the family’s convenience. Burial arrangements are incomplete.

She was born September 24, 1953, in Watertown, the oldest daughter of the late Calvin “Stubby” Wicks and Anne Marie Wicks.

Karen married Frederick Coleman of NYC on May 14, 1988.

Karen graduated from Immaculate Heart Central in 1971, attended Sienna College and SUNY Oneonta where she graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor in Liberal Arts. She moved to NYC in 1980 and obtained her Masters in Public Finance from New York University in 1985 while working at AMBAC as an underwriter. She moved to California in 1991 where she worked at Sanwa Bank as an associate Vice President in Corporate Bonds. She was employed as Vice President of Public Finance at Union Bank at the time of her passing.

Karen enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She had a strong passion for life and helping those in need. Karen participated in several charity runs throughout the country that supported a variety of causes.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Alana Marie and Haley Catherine and a son, Tucker Lane, all at home and two sisters, Suzanne M. Bishop of LaFargeville, NY and Laurie J. Wicks Drury and her husband Andrew J. Drury of Chaumont, NY. She is predeceased by her parents, Calvin “Stubby” Wicks and Ann Marie Wicks and her brother, Timothy J. Wicks.
