CLAYTON Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Lashomb, County Route 5, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary April 24 with a family dinner.
Mr. Lashomb, son of the late Francis Shomb Lashomb and Florence Sis Matthews, and Audrey Turcotte, daughter of the late Edwin and Ellen Turcotte, were married April 24, 1948, at Grindstone Island Methodist Church with the Rev. W.A. Gardner officiating. The couple renewed their wedding vows at Grindstone Island United Methodist Church at a surprise 35th wedding anniversary party in 1983.
Mr. Lashomb enjoys deep-sea fishing. Mrs. Lashomb, author of Going Home: Grindstone Island, serves on the Grindstone Island United Methodist Church board and volunteers for Dodge Hall dinners.
Mr. and Mrs. Lashomb attended Clayton High School and owned and operated Remar Shipyard Marina and Remar Rentals for nearly 35 years. They enjoy boating up and down the eastern seaboard and traveling in the States and overseas.
The couple has two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jr. and Jacqueline and Mark and Charlotte, all of Clayton; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and John Connolly, Watertown, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A daughter, Trudy, died in 1963.
