An Antwerp man faces up to three years in state prison after admitting Monday in Jefferson County Court that he violated a woman’s order of protection.

John C. Farney, 22, whose last known address was 35220 Carpenter Road, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal contempt. He admitted that on Dec. 21 in the town of LeRay he violated a Family Court order of protection held by Elizabeth A. Davenport, Theresa, by having repeated contact with her.

He is expected to be sentenced June 12 to 1 to three years in prison. He will be sentenced as a second-felony offender, having pleaded guilty in July in County Court to first-degree criminal contempt, again for violating Miss Davenport’s protection order. He was sentenced to six months in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building in that matter.

In other court activity:

Duane L. Doyle, 52, whose last known address was 228-B N. James St., Carthage, pleaded guilty to third-degree unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine. He admitted that on Dec. 15 he possessed the materials to manufacture methamphetamine with the intention of making the drug at his residence. Three others also were charged in the incident.

Mr. Doyle is expected to be sentenced June 12 to 2 years in prison, followed by an additional year of supervision upon his release. Judge Kim H. Martusewicz will mandate that Mr. Doyle serve his sentence in the prison system’s Willard Drug Treatment Program. If inmates complete the 90-day program, they serve the remainder of their sentence under parole supervision. Mr. Doyle served three years in prison after being convicted in 1988 of attempted second-degree assault and attempted third-degree burglary.

Mark D. Eastman, 43, of 126 N. Orchard St., Apt. 2, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary. He admitted that on July 24 he broke into Gold Star Deli, 343 Arsenal St., with the intent to steal something. Judge Martusewicz adjourned sentencing while Mr. Eastman participates in a prison diversion program that includes a six- or 12-month substance abuse treatment program. If he completes the program, he will be allowed to withdraw his guilty plea and plead guilty to the misdemeanor charge of second-degree criminal trespass. He then would be sentenced to three years’ probation.

Matthew F. Luffman, 21, Watertown, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance. He admitted that he tried to sell heroin within the county on Nov. 19. He is expected to be sentenced June 25 to six months in the PSB, followed by five years’ probation.

Ben D. Combs, 23, Watertown, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault. He admitted that, with others, he took part in a June 7 mugging of Paul E. LaDuke on Boyd Street in which he injured Mr. LaDuke by kicking and hitting him. Mr. LaDuke suffered cuts, scrapes and a broken tooth and had money stolen from him. Mr. Combs is expected to be sentenced June 21 to an unspecified amount of time served at the PSB and five years’ probation.

Shane K. Richardson, 38, whose last known address was 19226 Route 11, Apt. 4, pleaded guilty to third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He admitted that on April 4 on Factory Street he entered a Dodge Avenger without permission of the owner, April Matejcik. He was sentenced to time served at the PSB.

Antwan D. Gathers, 28, whose last known address was 43372 Route 37, Apt. B, was sentenced to 120 days in the PSB and five years’ probation after pleading guilty Feb. 4 to third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance. He admitted that he tried to possess cocaine with the intent to sell the drug Aug. 16 in Watertown.
