MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Nathaniel W. Dodson, 31of Norfolk, Tuesday withsecond-degree burglary, third-degree falsely reporting an incident, issuing a false written statement, unlawfully growing cannabis, unlawful possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence.

The charges stemmed from an investigation conducted by state police into a reported home invasion on the afternoon of April 26 at Dodson’s residence. Troopers said their investigation revealed Dodson had been alone at the residence when he entered the bedroom of a house mate without permission and stole liquor.

Dodson subsequently became intoxicated and caused damage to the interior of the residence, according to state police. They said when Dodson’s wife returned to the residence he falsely informed her that two unknown males entered the residence, assaulted him and caused damage to their residence.

Dodson’s wife then called 911, and he allegedly continued to convey false information to the 911 dispatcher, via his wife. Dodson then destroyed some of the marijuana plants he was found to be growing in the home in an effort to prevent detection by responding state police and sheriff’s deputies Dodson later gave a false written statement concerning the incident, according to troopers.

Dodson was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustsfson and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility with bail set $15,000.00 cash or $30,000 bond. Dodson was scheduled to appear Wednesday for further proceedings in the town of Norfolk Court.
