The Clayton Opera House has scheduled an orientation session for volunteers.

The session, at 5:30 p.m. May 29 at the opera house, 405 Riverside Drive, is for all past, current and future volunteers.

Anyone interested in being an ushers, helping with backstage work or artist hospitality, assisting with mailings or being an opera house greeter is invited.

Volunteer ushers assist patrons and house staff during performances. No experience is necessary, but friendliness and willingness to help people are key. Ushers are usually needed for a minimum of four hours, and call time is 90 minutes prior to curtain. They are invited to take a seat and watch the performance, but assist with tasks prior to the performance, during intermission and following the performance.

High school students who need to fulfill volunteer hours for school are welcome.

Training will be provided. For more information, call the opera house at 686-2200 or email operations@claytonoperahouse.com.
