Salmon River stay unbeaten in lacrosse at Canton

CANTON - Over 30 alumni from Canton and 14 former members of Salmon River’s Lacrosse program took part in the Golden Bears-Shamrocks Alumni Game on Saturday.

Several former Division I, II, and Division III players took part in the game which followed the Shamrocks 19-5 win over the Bears in a non-league contest between the two schools. “It was just a great turnout from both schools,” said current Canton High School coach Tim Youngs. “They’re is a tremendous amount of talent playing today from both schools.”

In the varsity game, Salmon River (12-0 NAC, 13-0 overall) used a 7-2 second quarter advantage to take a commanding 11-3 lead at halftime against the Bears (9-3 NAC, 9-4 overall).

Kason Tarbell generated four goals and Skyler Thomas delivered three goals and two assists leading the Shamrocks. Russ Oakes tallied three goals and one assst while Kyle Lewis and Trent Tarbell scored twice each. Other Shamrocks scoring came from: Sky Sunday (1-1), Frank David (1-1), Dalston Day (1-2), Francis Jacobs (1-0), Dalton Roundpoint (0-1), and Jaylene Laffin (0-1).

Josh Pierson, Garrett Glasglow, Jake Facey, Tanner Sanderson, and Gage Emerson all scored for the Bears.

Kobi Johnson had eight saves for the Shamrocks. Nate Gibson (two saves) and Andrew Knight (two saves) played goal for Canton.

Massena 16, Potsdam 6: Grayson Phillips generated six goals and four assists and Kyle Cooke stopped nine shots lifting the (8-6, 7-6 NAC) Raiders past the Stoners (7-7, 6-6 NAC) keyed by a 6-2 third quarter effort for a 12-4 lead.

Rhoades Tarbell, Jordy Mitchell (two assists), and Ross Driscoll each scored twice for the winners while Nick Henrie, Dalton Mullin, Sako Rourke (one assist), and Josh Blair all scored once. Tyler Simms and Zach Robert each logged an assist.

Kyle Grant made three goals for Potsdam. Steve Lewis added two goals and one assist while Hayden Hart scored a goal and drew two assist. Cody Compeau added two helpers.

Jason Cardinal (10 saves) and Chase Palmer (seven saves) shared the Potsdam crease.
