LOWVILLE — Two men attempting to sell meat and seafood from a vehicle last week caught the attention of village Police Chief Eric F. Fredenburg, resulting in their arrest.

Russell O. Walters, 39, Chadwicks, and Francisco M. Martinez, 34, New Hartford, were seen by Chief Fredenburg with a small pickup truck marked Premier Steak and Seafood attempting door-to-door sales on Stowe Street at about 2:30 p.m. May 2.

A traffic stop was conducted by Officer Matthew J. Young, during which it was discovered neither man had obtained a required license for solicitation in the village. Additionally, the driver, Mr. Walters, admitted to operating the vehicle without a license. A license check confirmed his state driving privileges were suspended for failure to answer a summons from the village of Yorkville, Oneida County, in February.

Mr. Walters was arraigned in Village Court and sent to Lewis County jail, Lowville, with bail set at $300. Both men were issued appearance tickets for the solicitation without a license charge.
