CARTHAGE The village Board of Trustees approved summer hours, sidewalk reconstruction, the Memorial Day Parade and members attendance at a conference during its May 6 meeting.
Summer hours for the village office, 120 S. Mechanic St., will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday from July 8 until the end of August. The clerk and deputy clerk will alternate Fridays off as long as there is no work to be completed.

The walks will be replaced at Route 126 and North and South Mechanic streets as well as at Route 126 and North and South School streets.
Trustees also approved the request from Daniel Brooks, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7227 commander, to hold the annual Memorial Day Parade starting at 10 a.m. May 27. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m. in West Carthage before proceeding across the bridge, pausing for a brief ceremony and continuing down State Street to Monument Park, where a larger ceremony will be conducted.
Officials also granted approval for any board member wishing to attend the third annual Black River Watershed Conference, to be held June 4 at the Lowville Fire Department, for $15 per person.
The conference will cover water quality, economic development and recreation.
