OGDENSBURG — A total of 302 people were registered as of 4 p.m. Tuesday to attend Wednesday’s state Office of Mental Health listening tour session at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center.

Of those, according to OMH, more than 70 are registered to speak.

The session is being held to gauge public input on OMH plans to change how mental health services are delivered in the state. The state is looking for less reliance on inpatient treatment and more emphasis on community-based support for the mentally ill. Those plans have prompted fears that the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center could close, although no specific hospitals have been targeted for closure.

The meeting will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the psychiatric center’s Unity Center, 1 Chimney Point Drive.
