St. Peter’s May Festival moving to fairgrounds

LOWVILLE — After more than 30 years, St. Peter’s May Festival is changing its venue.

The annual event, typically held on the grounds of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church and its former parochial school off Shady Avenue, will be held this weekend at the Lewis County Fairgrounds off Bostwick Street.

“We’re very excited about the change,” said Douglas P. Hanno, Planning Committee member, noting the fairgrounds offers more space and flexibility, improved parking and better restrooms.

Also new this year will be an antique car and tractor show Sunday.

The festival will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Unlimited rides will be offered from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, and Tony’s Polka Band will perform from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

A chicken barbecue will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday.
