Canton edge Heuvelton in Girls Lacrosse


HEUVELTON - Canton scored three times early in the second half to overcome a 7-6 halftime deficit in a 14-13 victory over Heuvelton on Wednesday in Northern Athletic Conference Lacrosse action. Rachel Huntley of Canton and Jackie Sovie of Heuvelton matched each others statistics scoring six goals and drawing one assist. For Canton, Tess Knight and Makayla Boak each scored twice while Lacey Kenny, Katie Lapinski, Alison Noble and Kaeli Frank each scored.

Olivia St. Pierre tallied three goals while Ashlyn Piercey added two goals and one assist for Heuvelton. Maddie St. Pierre and Ashlyn Foster each scored once. Meghan Howard handled eight shots for the Bears while Heather Thompson stopped seven shots for Heuvelton.

Massena 22, Saranac Lake 5: The Raiders clinched at least a share of the NAC title for the third straight aseason.

as a Massena built a 15-3 lead at halftime as Erin Francis generated six goals and four assists and Alisha Jacobs also tallied six goals to go along with a solo helper. Dominique Valancius (1 assist), Shannon Casey and Molly O’Connell connected for two goals each. Kaliegh Woodruff scored twice in the losing cause.


Malone 159.5, Gouverneur 86.5: Malone produced four multi-event winners to defeat the Wildcats (8-1) in a dual meet in Gouverneur.

Harvey Smith won the 100-meter dash as well as the 400 for the Huskies (9-0).

Morgan Marlow won the 1,600 and 3,200, and Daniel Badgley finished first in the 110 hurdles and high jump. Duncan Marshall added wins in the shot put and discus.


Malone 207, Gouverneur 122: Hannah Perry finished first in the 100, long jump and discus to lead Malone past the Wildcats (3-6) in a dual meet in Gouverneur.

Rebekkah Bond won the 400 hurdles and 1,500 for Huskies (8-1).
