BOONVILLE — Academic leaders of the class of 2013 at Adirondack Central School are Rebecca Gruver, valedictorian, and Christine Lee, salutatorian.

Miss Gruver, daughter of Michael and Mary Jane Gruver, Taberg, has an academic average of 98.70. She has completed several advanced classes, including AP English literature, AP physics, AP European history, Syracuse University Project Advance Calculus, Spanish 4, choir, and music theory 4. Based on her SAT scores, in which she scored a perfect 800 in critical reading, she was selected as a National Merit semi-finalist. Miss Gruver is a member of National Honor Society, Math Honor Society and Evergreen Musical Ensemble. She participates in school musicals, sings in the St. Joseph’s Choir, Lee Center, and volunteers in several organizations, including helping St. Joseph’s Church with its annual Christmas basket program and served as Community Service Coordinator for the Math Honor Society. Miss Gruver will major in physics at Columbia University, New York City.

Miss Lee, daughter of John and Linda Lee, Boonville, has an academic average of 98.21. She has completed several advanced classes, including AP U.S. history, pre-calculus, honors English, AP English, AP physics, French 4, statistics, participation in government and economics. She is involved in the school’s music department as a member of band, Evergreen choir and concert choir, where she serves as section leader. In her junior and senior years, she participated in the Area and Conference All-State and has participated in the school’s musical productions since her freshman year, most recently starring in the lead role of Miss Adelaide in “Guys and Dolls,” in March. Miss Lee serves as secretary for Math Honor Society, is a member of National Honor Society, an editor of the school’s yearbook and a past member of the school’s volleyball and varsity swim teams. She participated in the DPN Summer Musical Theater Workshops and was named a member of the Broadway Theater League’s Youth Ambassador Program. She has raised money for several organizations, including Relay for Life and participated in Homeless Night. Miss Lee is involved in her church, where she is a lector, altar server and singer. She will attend SUNY Geneseo, where she will major in business administration with a concentration in marketing and advertising.
