Watson man accused of killing son waives hearing

LOWVILLE — A town of Watson man accused of killing his son has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

The hearing in the second-degree murder case of Lyle F. Davoy Sr., 56, slated for this afternoon in Lowville Village Court, has been canceled, and the case has been moved to Lewis County Court, according to District Attorney Leanne K. Moser.

The matter likely will go to a grand jury unless a settlement deal is reached.

Davoy is being represented by the county’s public defender group, Lewis Defenders PLLC, Ms. Moser said.

He was accused of shooting his son, Lyle F. Davoy Jr., 29, in the upper torso with a 20-gauge shotgun Monday night outside a Stillwater Road residence, causing the young Mr. Davoy’s death.

Davoy continues to be held without bail at Lewis County jail.
