Fredericks qualifies for finals

SPRINGFIELD, Ma. - St. Lawrence University sophomore Divya Biswal should move into the top ten nationally in the triple jump and senior Caroline Raue won the 3000 meter steeplechase in day one action at the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Springfield College on Thursday.

In men’s competition on Thursday, senior Jake Fredericks of Ogdensburg qualified for the final in the 110 hurdles with a 14.75 clocking. Biswal, who was ranked 15th nationally going into Thursday’s competition, finished fourth in the meet. Her 39-05 mark should earn a second straight trip to the NCAA championships which will be held next weekend.

Raue also has a shot at competing in the NCAA meet and is ranked 14th based on her 10:58.99 finish in the NYSCTC championships. She was just off that pace on Thursday, but won the race with a 10:58.99 clocking, nearly ten seconds faster than second place finisher Erin LaFave of RIT.

Elizabeth Edwards finished second in the 5000 meters in 17:18.28.

Competition concludes today in the meet.
