Massena, N-N golf teams win NAC finales


The Massena Central and Norwood-Norfolk golf teams closed out their NAC seasons on a winning note Friday afternoon.

Massena 231, Gouverneur 256: At the Massena Country Club, which will serve as the host site for this year’s Section 10 Championship Meet next Friday and Saturday, Hunter Francis posted a two-over par 38 to lead the Raiders past the Wildcats. Tyler Bradford shot a 45 followed by Shane Tarbell with a 48, Kendrick Swamp with a 49 and Brandon Dobbins with a 51.

Eugene Bishop had the low score for the Wildcats with a 48. Cade Stevens carded a 50 while Cody Bishop and Daniel Sweet both shot 51 and Cole Newvine finished with a 56.

OFA 221, Franklin Academy 228: In a season-ending of Division I leaders, the Blue Devils got rounds of 42 from Conor Hannan, Brandon Mullin and Tristan Moore iin posting the win and coming away with sole possession of the regular season title under the guidance of coach Joe Lynch.

Jed McRoberts contributed a 47 toward the OFA total followed by Alec Manke with a 48.

For the Huskies, Evan Hannah shot a medalist round of 40 followed by Elliott Vanier and Dylan Fleury with 46’s and Davis Sprague and Alexandra Sprague with 48’s.

N-N 3, Brushton-Moira 2: In a Division II matchup at Highland Greens in Brushton, the Flyers got points in the final three pairings to come away with the win as Ty Cotter downed Matthew Niles 55-56, Kyle Bond beat Nathan Niles 53-56 and Brandon Palmer outshot Michael Labarr 50-51.

Devin Delisle carded a one-over par 37 to lead the Panthers and earn a point from Ryan Thomas (48) while Hunter Russell shot a 39 to gain the second B-M point from Jacob Levison (55).

N-N’s Austin Ward shot a non-scoring 56 and Patrick McKernan posted a 75 for B-M.


In a Division II tri-meet hosted by Edwards-Knox at Partridge Run in Canton, Heuvelton knocked off previously undefeated Madrid-Waddington 3-2 and the host Cougars 4-1. M-W also beat E-K 4-1 to salvage the split.

Dedrick Johnson shot a 52 to sweep his matches for the Bulldogs while teammate Will Tennant did so with a 54 and Eric Steward with a 58.

Jeff Mott shot a 45 for M-W to finish with the low round of the meet.
