LISBON – This years school district board of education election will only see one name on the ballot as Nancy J. Addison seeks to replace Tammy Amo.
Mrs. Amo is not seeking re-election.
Ms. Addison, director of the Canton Day Care, is a past member of the board, serving from 2004 to 2009. She decided not to run for re-election in 2009 because she was pregnant.
A lot of people thought I was crazy to do this again, but I really take pride in it, Ms. Addison said.
At the moment Ms. Addison has three daughters enrolled in Lisbon Central School, and her youngest will be starting pre-kindergarten in the fall.
Originally from Ogdensburg, Ms. Addison said she is concerned about the difficulties facing small schools.
With all the concerns right now with the state cuts to education, I just want to help out with trying to keep programs for the kids, she said. Im a big supporter of Lisbon school.
Because shes already served on the board, Ms. Addison said shes prepared to deal with the tough issues facing the district.
Its important that the community strongly supports this school and that the employees support this school, she said. Especially at this time with the budget concerns.
Voting will take place in the main lobby from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
