A Watertown man faces allegations that he rammed his vehicle into one occupied by two women.
Christopher J. Beardmore, 23, of 623 Burlington St., Upper Apt., was charged by city police Saturday with two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment and single counts of first-degree criminal contempt, leaving the scene of a property-damage accident, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and following too closely.
Police said he created a risk of serious injury to Shannon M. Casler, 331 W. Kirby St., Dexter, and Courtney L. Jobson, 2479 Alexandra Meadows, by rear-ending the vehicle they were in at 3 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Duffy Street. Mr. Beardmore allegedly accelerated his vehicle to a high rate of speed as Miss Casler, the driver, tried to pull away from a stop sign onto Arsenal Street before being struck. Miss Jobson, a passenger in the Casler vehicle, holds an order of protection against Mr. Beardmore, prompting the criminal contempt charge. Neither woman was injured.
Police said Mr. Beardmore then left the scene and reported that his vehicle had been stolen. He was additionally charged with falsely reporting an incident for that alleged claim. He is to face the charges in City Court.
