Ila F. Henderson, 99, of Sandy Creek, passed away Sat. May 18, 2013 at Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville. Born April 30, 1914, in Crystal Beach, Ontario. Daughter of the late Clifford and Nina Clarke Patton. She graduated from Vocational High School in Syracuse. Married to Ira A. Henderson Nov. 16, 1934 at Syracuse First Universal Church. They lived in Sandy Creek since 1947. Mr. Henderson died March 18, 1973. Formerly employed by Easy Washer Co. in Syracuse and Ils Tea Room and Earths Offering in Sandy Creek. Member of Sandy Creek Grange #127, Lake Ontario Chapter #124 O.E.S. in Sandy Creek, Life Member of Oswego County Fair Association, Zion Episcopal Church of Pierrepont Manor, and American Light House Society. She was an active crafter in the area and at the Oswego County Fair, where she was in charge of the Domestic Arts Building for many years. She was a Painter having done over 90 paintings of the Selkirk Light House. Active volunteer for over 50 years at the Oswego County Fair.
Survived by one daughter, Mary (Arthur) Shaffer of Jamesville, one son, Robert (Sandra) Henderson of Sandy Creek, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a son, Ira W. Henderson, 2 sisters, Virginia McCullough and Edna Nelson.
Funeral services will be held 12 Noon Wednesday at Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek with Rev. Walter Giles officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
