Fredericks part of Saints group headed to NCAAs

CANTON — Ogdensburg native Jake Fredericks is part of a contingent of St. Lawrence University athletes who will be participating at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Lacrosse, Wis., this week. The competition begins Thursday.

Fredericks, a senior, will compete in the men’s 110-meter hurdles where he ranks fifth nationally.

Fredericks was named the Liberty League men’s track performer of the week on Monday after setting a school record in the 110 hurdles in the ECAC Championships, qualifying for the NCAA meet.

The Saints also qualified five female athletes for individual events, as well as the 1,600 relay.

Senior Caroline Raue will compete in the 3,000 steeplechase and the 5,000. Graduate student Elizabeth Edwards will run the 10,000 meters. Sophomore Carly Stine and senior Jessica Marini will compete in the 400 hurdles and are on the 1,600 relay, along with freshmen Marisa Turner and junior Hannah Kinsey.

Sophomore Divya Biswal, who was runner-up at the indoor championship meet, will compete in the triple jump. She ranks sixth nationally.

n LeMoyne senior attackman and former Immaculate Heart Central standout Tyler Prevost was named to the USILA Division II All-America honorable mention team. Prevost leads the Dolphins in points with 58, including 40 assists.
