WATERTOWN - Assemblyman Kenneth D. Blankenbush, R-Black River, will hold a legislative oversight hearing on the NY SAFE Act from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 31 at the Italian-American Civic Association, 192 Bellew Ave.

Mr. Blankenbush will be joined by Assemblyman Michael A. Montesano, R-Glen Head, ranking Republican member of the Assembly Legislative Oversight, Analysis and Investigation Committee, and Assemblyman Marc W. Butler, R-Newport.

Representatives from northern sheriffs’ departments and county clerks’ offices are scheduled to speak. Speakers will focus on the implementation of the gun-control law, according to a news release.

According to the release, Mr. Blankenbush is concerned with the protection of gun owners’ health records, confiscation of firearms and the law’s effect on law-abiding citizens.
