CARTHAGE Approval was given at Mondays village Board of Trustees meeting for the clerk to attend schooling, the renewal of a contract and the hiring of summer help.
Clerk/Treasurer Kristy L. OShaughnessy was given permission to attend training provided by the office of the state comptroller. The training is offered free of charge at the Best Western Carriage House Inn, Watertown, so the only expense will be mileage incurred.
The technical service agreement for the Carthage/West Carthage Water Pollution Control Facility was reviewed and approved. The agreement with the Development Authority of the North Country provides engineering services to the water treatment plant at a cost not to exceed $19,000.
Marcus Yancey was hired as summer help for the Water Department, and Andrew Bracy, Timothy Steiner and Brandon Bush signed on at the Department of Public Works. The men will work eight-hour days for about 12 weeks at a rate of $8 per hour.
The board also approved the request of Christina Bamberg of Long Falls Baptist Church to conduct vacation Bible school during the summer recreation program at Carthage Park. Children with parental consent will be given the opportunity to attend the Bible school one day a week for about two hours of games and music.
