An inmate at Ogdensburg Correctional Facility accused of hiding a makeshift knife in his rectum will take his case to a St. Lawrence County grand jury.

In Ogdensburg City Court on Tuesday, Jamel W. Hughes, 26, of Staten Island, faced a charge of felony introduction of dangerous contraband in prison. He is accused of hiding a one-and-three-quarter-inch-long metal and plastic makeshift knife inside a rubber glove that was concealed by his feces.

The fecal matter was produced by Mr. Hughes after he failed a sit-down metal detection test as he was being processed for incarceration for a charge of second-degree assault.
