State lawmakers recognize retired Lewis County manager


LOWVILLE — The state Legislature recently passed a resolution commending the now-retired Lewis County manager for his 34 years of public service.

“Throughout his public service career, David H. Pendergast served with loyalty, honor and distinction, and was governed by a keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems in his official acts,” states the resolution, which both houses adopted in mid-April.

Mr. Pendergast, Watson, ended a five-year stint as county manager April 29.

His past employers include Oneida County, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the state Soil and Water Conservation District and the New York Farm Bureau. He was also the town of Fulton’s supervisor, a Schoharie County legislator and a member of the Middleburgh School District Board of Education.
