CANTON Canton village police are urging village residents to beware of strangers coming to their homes seeking to use the bathroom or obtain a drink.
Police said they were advised late Thursday afternoon of a subject described only as a white female between the ages of 18 and 25 stopping at a Riverside Drive residence about 3 p.m. that day.
The woman asked the homeowner if she could use the bathroom, and the resident agreed. The woman then asked if she could get a drink of water in the kitchen.
After the woman left, the elderly homeowner discovered that $33 had been removed from his wallet and that numerous prescription medications had been moved from their original locations in a kitchen cupboard, but none was missing, police said.
Residents are asked to contact the Canton Police Department if they become aware of family members or others who may have been approached by anyone seeking to gain entrance to their homes under suspicious circumstances.
