College track: SLU’s Fredericks misses cut in 110 hurdles

LA CROSSE, Wis. — St. Lawrence University senior Jake Fredericks missed making the finals of the men’s 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships by one-thousandth of a second on Friday.

The top nine runners in the preliminary races qualified for today’s final and Fredericks, an Ogdensburg native, finished in 10th place with a time of 14.546 seconds. The ninth-place finisher, and final qualifier, was SUNY Oneonta’s Jake Alviene, who finished in 14.545 seconds.

SLU will have two athletes competing in today’s three finals in the last day of the meet. Caroline Raue will compete in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at 1:45 p.m. Divya Biswall will be in the triple jump final at 3:20 p.m., and Raue will race again in the women’s 5,000 final at 5:30 p.m.
