LaFargeville Central School class leaders


LAFARGEVILLE — The academic leaders for the class of 2013 at LaFargeville Central School are Lauren Beeles, valedictorian, and Lauren Labiendo, salutatorian.

Miss Beeles, daughter of Scott and Sally Beeles, has an academic average of 98.03. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Drama Club, class yearbook, Whiz Quiz and Environmental Science Club. She has served as a student representative on the District Wellness Committee, class treasurer, Student Council member, Oxfam Hunger master of ceremonies and daily student announcements spokeswoman.

She has participated in Lyme Community Theater, Franciscan Mystery Players, “L.A. on Broadway” Musical, school productions “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Once Upon a Mattress,” soccer, basketball, softball, Envirothon and Horizons III, a college preparatory program at Clarkson University, Potsdam. She has completed upper level, honors and college courses, earning 29 college credits during high school.

Miss Beeles will attend Nazareth College, Rochester, to double major in international studies and foreign language.

Miss Labiendo, daughter of Patrick and Patti Labiendo, has an academic average of 96.26. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Student Council, Peer Leadership, Whiz Quiz, Environmental Science Club and Drama Club. She completed several courses through the school’s distance learning classroom and Jefferson Community College, Watertown, the Edge Program, earning 26 college credits while in high school. She participated in chorus, Envirothon, basketball and softball. She was named a Frontier League All-Star multiple times, played travel softball as a member of Northern Nightmare for three years, served as class president, class vice president, Student Council secretary and captain of several athletic teams.

Miss Labiendo plans to attend Jefferson Community College to double major in physical education and sports management. After JCC, she plans to complete a bachelor’s degree at a four-year college.
