Bus trips from Lewis County to Old Forge to resume


LOWVILLE — Lewis County’s summer bus run to Old Forge is slated to begin for its second year this week.

Daily rides will be offered from Wednesday through Sept. 2 to the Enchanted Forest theme park for 50 cents per one-way trip.

Pick-up times and locations are: 7:15 a.m. at Schulz’s Restaurant in Croghan, 7:45 a.m. at Tops Plaza in Lowville, 8 a.m. at Howard G. Sackett Technical Center in Glenfield, 8:15 a.m. at the Edge Hotel in Lyons Falls, 8:25 a.m. at Lock 96 in Port Leyden and 8:40 a.m. at the Big M store in Boonville with buses reaching Old Forge at about 9:20 a.m.

Buses will leave the park a half-hour after the park’s closing, which varies from 4 to 7 p.m. Anyone with questions can call the local Birnie terminal at 376-6508. Nearly 3,000 passengers used the service during the inaugural season.
