Snye man charged with criminal contempt for allegedly violating protection order

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Mitch R. Nanticoke, 26, of 4 Snye Road, Snye, Que., with second-degree criminal contempt at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday after he was allegedly found violating an order of protection during a secondary inspection at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown. Nanticoke was a passenger in a vehicle being operated by Charlene A. Lazore, 26. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers said during their secondary investigation they discovered an order of protection directing Nanticoke to stay away from Lazore, whom he identified as his girlfriend. That order was signed by Bombay Town Justice Curtis C. Smith on April 3 and directed Nanticoke to have no contact with Ms. Lazore. That order had been signed after Nanticoke was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree menacing. Nanticoke was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released on his own recognizance after providing the court with paperwork indicating the order of protection had been rescinded.
