BOMBAY - Compact money from the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe is flowing again, and the town of Bombay has planned how to allocate the income.

According to Town Supervisor Mary Taylor, the town is looking at around $930,000, though the exact figure is currently unknown. A resolution was passed at Wednesday night’s regular meeting of the town council for the county to send the official allocations to Albany.

Funds are set to be allocated as follows:

■ 50 percent to infrastructure and road maintenance, including the implementation of a 3 year highway maintenance and improvement plan, machinery and equipment upgrades to facilitate the plan, and sidewalk installation.

■ 5 percent for fire and rescue equipment, assisting in the purchase of equipment necessary to handle the increased demand resulting from calls to the casino.

■ 30 percent to economic development, including the development of a portion of the existing recreation park to create facilities for a farmer’s market to showcase Amish and other local goods. This also includes natural gas line incentives, involving the addition of a natural gas line through town to make the currently vacant Gildan building (a large manufacturing facility) more attractive to potential businesses.

■ 15 percent to community development, including housing rehabilitation improvements (such as Block Grant procurement) and recreation park improvements such as playground equipment, parking, and the expansion of a newly created walking trail.
