Traffic slowed in car and buggy bumper

CANTON — A one-car, one-buggy crash slowed traffic Wednesday on Route 68 in Canton.

Sharon A. Allen, 69, was heading north on Route 68 when she allegedly sideswiped a horse and buggy to the right of the road, also heading in the same direction.

Samuel J. Swartzentruber, 22, and Jerry J. Miller, 17, were in the buggy at the time of the incident.

Ms. Allen’s passenger-side front and rear doors received damage and the side view mirror was knocked off. The buggy’s back left wheel also was damaged.

St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies reported that Ms. Allen came up over a hill in her 2004 Chevy Impala and didn’t see the horse and buggy when the incident occurred.

There were no injuries reported.
