HEUVELTON - The top-seeded Heuvelton AmVets advanced to the semi-finals of the Ogdensburg Kiwanis Club Girls Softball Playoffs by prevailing over Northern Pump Service in a match of Heuvelton squads on Monday night.
The AmVets will host the Red Devils of Hammond in the semi-finals tonight with the finals set for Wednesday. Tonights other semi-final game will see Julies Dance Studio meeting Blue Heron Realty.
NPS opened the playoffs on Saturday with a 29-27 thriller over the Ladies of the Moose.
Heuvelton AmVets def NPS: Emma Ladouceur and Maddison McCormick combined for 10 strikeouts pitching the victory to Josie Carter and Emily Streeter who both excelled in all facets of their catching duties.
Offensively Rayna Cameron, Kelsey Williams and Maddison McCormick each drove in three runs; Yelena Jaquith doubled in two runs and Celia Henry went two-for-two.
Emily Basford and Eliza Martin struck out six for NPS which received an RBI double from Julia Lemieux and singles from Eliza Martin, Emma Smithers and Emily Basford.
Heuvelton NPS team posted a win in first round of playoffs against Lady Moose.
Red Devils 9, COPE 8: The Red Devils needed a one last rally to survive against Cope Consulting as Avery Kenyon scored the tying run in a seven run sixth inning to tie the game at 8-8 and Taylor Arquitt tripled and scored on a Hannah Tanner single in the seventh for the win.
We played exceptional defense tonight keeping pace with COPE which played very well and produced two great defense plays, said Coach Corey Tanner.
Hope Walker had two ESPN Web Gems in a unassisted triple play at shortstop after snaring a line drive and also producing a double play at second for COPE.
Arquitt, Morgan Howie, and Alicia Parrow pitched the win. Howie had a double while Arquitt tripled and singled. Savannah Rathbun and Parrow also had timely hits.
Hope Walker and Amanda Walker pitched for COPE. Hope Walker and Deanna Teele each had a double while Gabby Kroeger, Anna Burdick, and Stephanie Skeels singled.
Julies Dance Studio 11, Source Capital 7: Rileigh Planty and Natalie Crofut pitched the win as Planty smacked a homerun, Crofut ripped a double and Kelsi Fraser produced a double play at firstbase unassisted.
Sierra LaFlair, Sadie ONeil, and Teegan Bell each singled.
Alexa McKee tripled and singled for Source Capital which scored six runs in the seventh inning. Hayleigh OShea added two singles while Katie House tripled. Brielle McKee, R. Cameron, Ema Stemples, Kallie Wood, Abby Thompson each singled.
Blue Heron 22. DelFelsko 9: Sidney Johnson, Natalie McCormick, and Courtney Baker pitched the win while Adrianna Parks smacked a three-run triple. Courtney Baker and Sidney Johnson each drilled a two-run single. Morgan Macaulay produced a double play.
Pitching for DeFelsko were Lynee Lesperance and Jaylene Dawley. Hits came from Julia LOrange, Shelby Ross, Makayla Luvlee, Jaylene Dawley, Tenielle Smith, Baylen Dupree, and Emma LeBeau.
NPS 29 - Ladies of Moose 27: NPS struggled with pitching but excellent fielding and clutch hitting lifted the Heuvelton squad. Dakota West, NPSs youngest player provided key plays at secondbase as did Katy Premo in rightfield.
Nevaeh Lockwood and Desirae Graveline both had key hits for the Lady Moose which competed extremely well for its cause.
