Little Theatre presenting “Dixie Swim” encore in Clayton

Little Theatre of Watertown has waded into “The Dixie Swim Club” for an encore.

The troupe presented the comedy to full houses last fall at the Black River Valley Club, Washington Street. It will be staged again with the same actresses from June 27 to 30 at the Clayton Opera House.

The story, by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, concerns five Southern women whose friendships began on their college swim team. They set aside a long weekend every August at North Carolina’s Outer Banks to recharge those relationships. The story spans three decades.

Performers are Angela Alpaugh as eager-to-please Jeri Neal, Georgia Gagnon as the self-depracating Vernadette, Sarah Hovey as team captain Sheree, Elizabeth Smith as the overachiever Dinah and Tina Thompson as the pampered and outspoken Lexie.

Little Theatre veteran Jane Bowman Jenkins directs “The Dixie Swim Club.”

“It has some very funny lines, but it also has some tender moments,” Mrs. Jenkins said last fall.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. June 27, 28 and 29 and 4 p.m. June 30. General admission is $12 at the door.
