POTSDAM - After the players picked their team named for the Section 10 Exceptional Seniors Softball Game at SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday, Team Awesome went on to outscore the Florida Gators 10-6.

Team Awesome, coached by St. Lawrence Central’s Tim Brown, combined excellent pitching from Courtney Boyea of Chateaugay and Brittany Barr of OFA (9 strikeouts) and a clutch two-hit performance from Brittany Rondeau of St. Regis Falls, who smacked an RBI-single and RBI-triple, to outlast the Gators. Noelle Rufa of St. Lawrence Central, Boyea, Felicia Barr of OFA, Abby Basford of Heuvelton, and Hermon-DeKalb’s Clarissa Davis each smacked two singles while OFA’s Shannon Tooley and Brittany Barr each added a run,

Cailtin Grow of SLC and Alicia LaRose of Heuvelton also played on the winning team.

Harrisville’s Jena Soper and N-N’s Katie Ames each singled home a run for the Gators, who were coached by Lisbon’s Renee Robinson. Mickey Fregoe of N-N added a double and scored three times while Sam Gladle of Lisbon and N-N’s Carlea Weaver each lined a single. Canton’s Emma Rexford and Ames pitched in the setback with 10 combined strikeouts. Kaeli Mace of Canton, Alison Mitchell of Lisbon, and Taylor Hall of E-K also competed for the Gators.
