Massena man charged with assault following domestic dispute

ASSAULT - MASSENA - Village police charged Gregory M. Allen, 22, of Tracy Street, Massena, with a misdemeanor count of third-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury and a misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal mischief: intent to damage property on Friday, stemming from an incident that occurred at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police said that he intentionally caused physical injury to Tanya L. Mathie during a domestic dispute by punching her in the face. He also allegedly bit her in the right shoulder and kneed her in the abdomen during the incident which occurred near the Massena Central School bus garage. Ms. Mathiewas taken to Massena Memorial Hospital for treatment of pain to her mouth. She also complained of broken teeth. Allen also allegedly threw Ms. Mathie’s cell phone, breaking it during the dispute.

He was arraigned by Massena Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released under the supervision of probation to reappear Tuesday afternoon. Judge Sharlow also signed a no harassment order.
