ADAMS Two people were arrested Saturday afternoon while burglarizing an Adams residence, according to the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department.
Zachary A. Stevens, 24, of 22479 Waterville Road, Lorraine, was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor.
Also charged with second-degree burglary for allegedly aiding and abetting Mr. Stevens was Amanda M. Lasell, 20, of 13706 Route 90, Lorraine.
Deputies said the pair drove to a residence at 61 Spring St. and, while Ms. Lasell waited in the vehicle, Mr. Stevens entered the dwelling without the consent or knowledge of the owner and stole $19.32 in change.
According to the arrest report, a deputy found Mr. Stevens inside the dwelling with the change in his pocket and placed him in handcuffs. Ms. Lasell then entered the dwelling and also was placed in handcuffs.
The report says Mr. Stevens resisted the deputys efforts to place him under arrest by pulling and twisting away from him after having one wrist placed in handcuffs, then was placed on the floor by the deputy in order to place the other wrist in handcuffs.
Both defendants were arraigned in Ellisburg Town Court and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, on $10,000 bail pending further court action.
