POTSDAM - Entering its first season of collegiate competition, the Clarkson University Softball team has added Katie Allenson as its first assistant coach for the 2013-14 season.

Allenson, a native of Clifton Park, NY, was a two-sport athlete at Keene State College, starring for both the softball and swimming programs. Allenson, who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 2009, most recently served as the assistant coach at Division II Pfeiffer University. She also has worked as an assistant coach at Keene State for the swimming and diving program and functioned as a graduate assistant coach for the softball team at New England College.

As a student-athlete at Keene State, Allenson hit .395 over the course of four seasons with the Owls, the highest career batting average in program history. She also posted 19 home runs (fourth all-time), 108 runs batted in (fourth all-time), and 53 extra base hits. Allenson also slugged .625 with 252 total bases. A two-time first-team conference all-star, she hit .477 as a junior and set a single-season Keene State mark with 42 RBIs. In her four seasons at Keene State, the Owls reached the NCAA Tournament once and produced a record of 112-51 (.687 winning percentage).
