OGDENSBURG – A new fitness studio geared toward women has come to the city.
Im a mom, so I know the importance of taking time for you, said Holly A. Francis, manager of Body Express, 800 State St. Going to the gym is a great stress reliever.
Owned by Kelly M. Gonyea, the studios grand opening was Monday.
With its colorful walls and upbeat music, Body Express is more laid back than most fitness centers. But it also offers a serious workout.
There are 18 machines focused on cardio and muscle building to keep your heart pumping.
Many gyms dont show you how to use the equipment, Mrs. Francis said. Well go through each machine and measure your comfort level.
There are medicine balls, yoga mats and hand weights available for those who want to take a break from the everyday workout.
The gym offers full weight loss support and muscle building programs such as the TLS (Transition Life Style), a program designed to increase cardiovascular health. The program is run at the Body Express by life coach Clint L. Taylor.
Mrs. Francis is using the program herself.
Ive lost 15 pounds in four weeks, Mrs. Francis said. Its a great program.
Trainer Stacey M. Schroeder will be on hand throughout the week.
There are prize incentives, with coupons to Busters Sports Bar and Restaurant and Peebles available when members meet their fitness goals.
Body Express also plans to offer fitness classes and packages in the future, Mrs. Francis said.
Well also have themed days for holidays like Halloween, Mrs. Francis said. Its just one more way we try to make things fun.
Mrs. Francis said she hopes her gym will one day be like the neighborhood beauty shop.
I want it to be a comfortable place to come after work, feel great and be among friends, Mrs. Francis said.
To join the gym, there is a $30 one-time annual registration fee. A $5 fee is charged for the use of the gyms equipment.
Body Express is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
