Coakley’s fundraiser aids Potsdam Humane Society

CANTON - Coakleys’ Carpet One Ace Hardware in Canton was bustling with activity recently as five kittens and a group of volunteers shared the parking lot in front of the store.

Bill Coakley and his team grilled and served lunch. The price for lunch was a donation to PHS, and Coakley customers gave generously.

Two kittens found their forever homes while entertaining animal stories were exchanged.

Information was shared about the many services PHS provides the community. SNIP (Spay Neuter In Potsdam) forms were given to those interested in low income S/N clinics held at the shelter in Potsdam.

During July, the Potsdam Humane Society has all cats and kittens half price because of the spring population explosion of felines. Cats ($25) and kittens ($35) are practically being “given” away so they can all find homes. All animals are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, up to date on vaccinations and treated for fleas.

Call 265-3199 or go on line at to see pictures of all animals ready for adoption and to fill out adoption form.
