Lewis County hospital hires new staff development coordinator

LOWVILLE — Lewis County General Hospital has chosen a new staff development coordinator.

Brandy M. Boucher, a nursing/hospital supervisor at Carthage Area Hospital, has been named to the administrative post here, according to a release from the county-owned hospital.

“Ms. Boucher brings extensive knowledge and familiarity in this role,” Jennifer S. Shaver, the hospital’s director of nursing, said in a statement. “This position is extremely important, and her experience helps ensure a smooth transition for both hospital and nursing home staff.”

She will replace Kathy M. Millard, who recently was named clinic nurse manager at the hospital.

Ms. Boucher said she was very impressed with Lewis County General Hospital and its employees and is “looking forward to being part of the growing organization and team,” according to the release.

The staff development coordinator plans, organizes and conducts in-service education, develops course content, demonstrates patient care equipment, assists in nurse recruitment activities, coordinates CPR programs and conducts certified nursing assistant and nurse training classes.

Ms. Boucher is enrolled in a combined accelerated bachelor’s and master’s degree program in nursing through Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn. She received her licensed practical nursing degree from the St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services and an associate degree from SUNY Canton.

The new coordinator has previously worked at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, taught at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES and spent a few years in South Carolina before returning to the north country to raise her children.
