Fort Drum- Watertown Civil Air Patrol squadron to get first female leader

The Civil Air Patrol’s Fort Drum-Watertown Composite Squadron will get its first woman commander at a ceremony today .

Capt. Michaela Ormsbee of Lowville will succeed her husband, Maj. Robert Ormsbee, who has been appointed professional development officer and assistant emergency services officer for the Central N.Y. Group, which oversees squadrons in Watertown, Fulton, Syracuse, Rome and Utica.

She also will become the second woman to have commanded a squadron in the regional group’s history.
